Saying Goodbye

Why is is that Goodbye's have to happen?  Why is it that we could not find a way to freeze time, and keep our Elena with us forever.  We fell in love with this sweet girl, and will forever love her and feel she is apart of our family.
Saying our goodbyes was a lot more emotional than mom wanted them to be.  It's hard not to hold back the tears when you are not sure when you will see this sweet german girl again.  We enjoyed having her apart of our family for 1 year, and are not sure what we will do without her here in Utah with us.  It will take some time to get over the fact that we had to say goodbye and that she will not be in her bed tonight or any night from here on out. :(
Jake and Ellie watching Elena's bag go through the scan.  It had not quite hit them yet that she was actually leaving us for good.
Jake getting real sad, real fast when mom tells him to hug Elena one last time before she gets into the security line that we cannot go in.  He started to get snuggly fast.

Ellie trying to hold back the tears as she hugged Laney one last time before saying goodbye.
One last picture together before we have to say goodbye to our sweet Elena.  We knew that we were going to miss her so much.  If only we could have froze time right that minute.
Elena checking her bags to make sure everything was in its spot before she had to walk away from us and head towards securtiy.

As soon as we saw Elena reach the top of escelator and go out of sight, both Ellie and Jake broke down in tears and sobbed all the way out to our van, and then were in tears until we got home.  They both miss her so very much, and it will take some time to adjust to her not being in our home with us.  We love her so much, and are glad she came to live with us.
We love you sweet girl, please never forget your American family, or the love we have for you!  <3
